E-Commerce: 5 Hacks to Increase Your Instagram Post Engagement
With over 1 billion active users per month, Instagram is an important tool for businesses to expand their brand outreach and prospective clientele. In comparison to Facebook, Instagram can generate over 4 x more interactions. And engagement rate is one of the most important metrics (after the channel and platform incrementality) you would like to analyze while posting on Instagram. Why? The more feedback you get, the more the audience is involved in the message you translate, the higher chance of a purchase. We’ve prepared some unobvious tricks that help e-Commerce brands to increase their engagement rate.
#1 – Turn your Instagram into a store
According to recent numbers, 75 percent of millennials’ purchase decisions are influenced by a brand’s social media presence, and 29 percent of that demographic shops on Instagram. Taking advantage of Instagram’s shopping settings could be a great way to sell more of your product. To access this feature, go to “settings” >>> “business settings” >>> “shopping”. This will allow you to create clickable images on your Instagram store.
#2 – Tag influencers and accounts with a high number of followers when you mention them in posts
Tagging brands with an audience that overlaps your brand’s audience is a great way to get an influencer to work with you. The right influencer (particularly, one who has a large network) will boost your Instagram following and engagement. Since you’re driving your audience to their page by tagging them, the relationship is beneficial to both of you.
#3 – Use Instagram’s Story features, like polls and questions
Audiences engage with polls and questions frequently and fast, so it’s great to start investing in that. The best part is – polls are incredibly easy to create on Instagram Stories. You don’t even have to wait for a special announcement – you can start with a simple introduction of the brand and your team. Including polls will also increase the rate at which the followers watch your Stories.
Here are a few poll questions you can reuse for various content purposes:
◆ Which (color, style, taste) do you prefer: x or y?
◆ What kinds of content would you be most interested in seeing from us?
◆ Which upcoming product [or service] are you more excited about?

#4 – Partner up with another brand or influencer
This type of partnership encourages new likes and followers, and will increase engagement on your Instagram page. However, before you commit to this type of interaction, make sure to clarify the content guidelines, what the influencer or brand will receive in return, any hashtags you want to use, and how the product should be promoted.
#5 – Write pre-filled comments to quickly reply to questions
If you’ve managed a social media account long enough, you know the typical questions that tend to happen on your brand account. Use these questions to create pre-filled responses that will allow you to quickly respond when one of your followers poses a question. You can easily fill in these responses by going to “options” then scroll down to “business settings” and click on “quick replies”.
By following these hacks, you should notice a perceptible increase in your post engagement. However, always remember the rule of great content – your followers constantly want to see exciting, informative content that will make their lives better and keep them interested in your brand.
